Why does Honolulu need another blog? Why are we doing this? Why do tourists keep calling Lanikai a “hidden gem”? Why does every local suddenly own a truck? Why is karaoke the real nightlife of this city? WHY is the question at the heart of Because Hawaii—and if you’ve ever lived here, visited here, or even just tried to find parking in Kakaako, you know this place is full of questions.

So, here we are. A blog that asks the ridiculous, the insightful, the snarky, and the oddly specific questions that make Hawaii what it is. Sometimes we’ll dig deep into something meaningful or promote our events. Sometimes it’ll just be a love letter to Spam musubi, drag queens, or the magic of a really good slush float. Either way, we promise to keep it fun, honest, and maybe even just a little bit scandalous.
