Why Grindr at the Gym Is a Public Health Crisis (Kidding… Mostly)
Earlier this year, social media lit up with stories of guys using Sniffies and Grindr while working out at the gym—and not just to say hi. Screenshots of unsolicited pics, “you looking?” messages mid-rep, and full-on flirting in the squat rack stirred up the age-old debate: is the gym off-limits, or is it just another gay public space?
Focusing on your workout or looking for post-workout activity?
In Hawaii, we’ve already figured it out: look, smile, maybe message. But mostly? Be cool and respectful. Nobody needs unsolicited photos while mid-set. (Unless it's of the playlist. We’re always curious.)
At places like Kaka‘ako’s UFC Gym or CrossFit, there’s a known but unspoken code: don’t be a creep. Do be hot. Bonus points if your towel game matches your shorts.
What happens after you workout?….your call!
This is your reminder that Boundaries + Flirting = Yes Please, and Grindr etiquette should be taught alongside gym orientation.
